Our focus on the triple bottom line ensures the principles of sustainability – meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Commission, 1987) – are systematically integrated into our daily business practices.

To help guide our daily business practices, we have defined and implemented the following principles of sustainability:

People

We will set health and safety targets that continually strive to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm to our employees, contractors, and visitors to our sites.  We place the highest value on being a responsible and caring employer.

We engage, and are engaged by, many different stakeholders.  Our goal is to recognize their interest in our business, listen to them, and respond.  This is all carried out in an environment of mutual respect.

Wherever we work, we are part of a local community.  Where we have been granted a social licence to operate, we will look for appropriate ways to participate in community improvement projects.

Planet

The planet supports all human activity.  We will continually look for new and creative ways to maximize a project’s net environmental benefits.

The effective use of natural resources increases our efficiency and respects the needs of future generations.  We will constantly look for ways to improve their use in our operations.

Profit

Successful financial performance is a core element of sustainability.  We seek to achieve robust profitability, measured by accepted best practices, to deliver a fair return to our shareholders.

Customers are fundamental to our business.  We strive to continually strengthen customer relationships and develop new ones.  We work to exceed customer expectations by designing and delivering highly innovative generation projects.
